Submit work which relates to an African theme. The emphasis of the prize is on visual storytelling. Projects must work together as a whole and include some sort of narrative structure. Don’t enter single images or fashion/advertising/studio work.
Awards:
The five best portfolios will be presented during Art Basel 43 from 13 June through 17 June in public projections.
A publication including work of the winning portfolios will accompany the projections. The winner will be included in the piclet.org artist directory.

KUNSTNETZWERK and founder Raed Bawayah, in collaboration with « Eyes-On » the European Month of Photography Vienna will organize the first Vienna International Photographic Awards « VIPA » in 2012 for documentary photography.
Participants will choose the theme of their photo series submission. Submission must be a single photo or a series, which focus on documentary photo-reportages such as social, cultural, political or environmental issues.

With no set theme photographers are invited to submit recent work, of any subject, style or genre, which engages or challenges the viewer, either to convey stories, raise questions or provoke feeling. Try to show free expression and are keen to see new and creative approaches that explore the realm of story-telling.

Approximately 150 successful images hang floor to ceiling in Foto8 Gallery for a six-week period over the summer, giving you, the audience, the opportunity to pick your personal favourite, which in turn may stand a chance of winning the coveted People’s Choice award – and some professional photographic kit.
The overall winner will receive £2000

The Grand Prize Award
One artist will be selected to receive $10,000 cash, a printed inclusion in a limited edition SELF book, a published spread in Flash Art Magazine, an online feature published by Artists Wanted, and an exhibition in the See // Exhibition Space in New York City.
Early Entry Award
The jury panel will select one artist to receive a $1,000 grant, an online feature published by Artists Wanted and a printed inclusion in a limited edition SELF book. All artists who enter their work by Friday April 27 will be considered for the Early Entry Award.
People’s Choice Award
One artist whose portfolio appears in the highest number of collections will receive an online feature and $2,500 cash grant.

Semifinalists will be displayed and auctioned as a fundraiser at the June release in Washington, DC of the annual Worst of the Worst 2012 report.
First, second, and third place winners will be featured on the Freedom House website, in the newsletter, and the 2012 edition of the Worst of the Worst report.
